“In case nobody told you today: you are beautiful, you are loved, you are strong, you are enough.” — Author Unknown

Stinkin’ Thinkin…that is what I like to call that negative, intrusive internal dialogue known in the therapy world as a cognitive distortion. Why are we always our harshest critic? “I am not good enough” “I am unlovable” “I am worthless.” Do these sound familiar to things you have said about yourself? Where do these negative thoughts come from? Why do they creep into our psyche at the times where we should be the most compassionate with ourselves? Let’s just say we ALL have these patterns of distorted thinking that perpetually reinforce negative emotions and thoughts. Thoughts stir up feelings, becoming a trigger for more negative thoughts, creating a perpetual cycle of negative cognitions aka, “Stinkin Thinkin.”

Pssst Let me let you in on a little secret…these cycles can be broken and that negative stinkin’ thought can be healed and replaced with more positive thoughts and feelings of self-worth. The mind is a powerful thing. Just as powerful and true as those negative thoughts feel, the power can be reversed. Take back your power and show yourself a little compassion.
