“Looking at beauty in the world is the first step of purifying the mind.” — Amit Ray

What is this new buzzword everyone is talking about? We hear it so often in mainstream media, but do we really know what it is and how to put it into practice? Does it even help? All questions you may be asking yourself. Research shows that daily mindfulness may help reduce anxiety & depression, improve sleep, improve immunity, and even rewire the way your brain functions. At it’s core, mindfulness is a way of training your mind to be present in the moment. Sounds simple, right? Between work, never ending mental lists, kids, and the constant entertainment our phones and electronics provide, being present in the moment can be damn near impossible. Human’s current rate of productivity keep us on the hamster wheel to burnout, leaving very little time to, what is that saying again-stop and smell the roses? There is a reason why mindfulness is often referred to as a “practice.” The more your practice it, the easier slowing down and being present is. Let’s be honest, is there really a point into focusing on all the things in the past that you cannot change, or worrying about all the things in the future that may or may not happen? Below are some resources into becoming more mindful and present in your daily life. Start small, 5-10 minutes a day can be a great starting point for putting practice into transforming who we can become…a more mindful, present, less stressed version of our best self.
